Age of Samurai

This week we watched Stephen Scott's "Age of Samurai" on Netflix. It is a documentary about the unification of Japan. The starting point of the series is the Sengoku period (1467 - 1615). The documentary alternates the interventions of historians and specialists of the period with scenes in costume of impeccable cinematographic quality. The actors playing the different characters of this period are exceptional and the effect is completely immersive. We will therefore be embarked in this tumultuous and exciting era that we know little about in this part of the world. An epic that has nothing to envy to others more known so much the stature of the characters who made history at that time is gigantic. We will come out of this series with a good overview of the history of this period and a feeling of immersion equivalent to the one we felt when following series like Viking or Games of Throne. Beware that like this last series, Age of Samurai does not hide anything of the extreme violence of this period...
